1- Gaza Strip: Water Wars and Assassination

Today in Rafah water workers were able to continue their repairs on the Tel e-Sultan wells, which were demolished by the Israeli Army on January 30, with the help of 9 ISM activists (3UK, 4US, 1 Italian and 1 French) who stood between the workers and Israeli military towers from which soldiers regularly fire upon Rafah Municipality water workers. Tomorrow, the activists intend to sleep at the wells to protect the water workers' equipment. Also today a Palestinian ISM activist traveling from Rafah to Gaza City witnessed the assassination of Nahed Abu Ziad, whom the Israelis suspect of being a leader of the Hamas organisation in Gaza. The activist watched as regular soldiers cut the road she was traveling on. Plan clothed assassins then fired into the car in front of hers, killing Abu Ziad and wounding the driver. Both Ziad's body and the wounded man were taken away by the Israelis. The activist's account of the assassination differs from the official version of events, which claims that the Israeli's were trying to capture Mr. Ziad but that he died of his wounds in hospital.

2- Sad but True

Great news folks... The army hits again... of course for military purposes only and for the sake of security for a state who will never feel secure even in a prison that it creates itself... Any way, here is the news:

Yesterday, the Israeli army distributed documents on some families on the northern side of Aida camp.
These documents contained a military order of confiscation of lands (18000 square meters) for military purposes. These documents were provided with maps and definition of the lands to be confiscated in view of the new road for the colonizers to reach the mosque of Bilal Ibn Rabah, alias Rachel Tomb. This confiscation would include a part of the northern borders of Bethlehem Municipality lands, which goes in parallel of about half the camp from the Easter side.

The order was signed by the commander of the Israeli army in the west bank Moshé Keplinsky...
So is it good news or bad news? What are we going to do about that? May be we will weep a little bit, then we will become used to the idea, as usual... what do you think?
If you want to see the maps, I'll just scan them and hang them on a wall somewhere and say to myself:
Once upon a time... Once upon a dream...

3- Medical condition of Esma Seba'ana, detained by the Israelis

The following medical report has been sent to HR-groups and media today.

Today we got some new information on the Medical condition on Esma Seba'ana, detained by the Israelis since Tuesday 11. We met Doctor Jamal Nassar, the last physician to examine her condition. He informed us that Esma was treatened for her Brain-tumor the first time almost ten years ago. She then had a surgery in the Makhassah' hospital in jerusalem, where they removed the tumor. It turned out not to be Maligint, the kind that spreads fast through your body, but maningioma, a slowly growing type. A few years after the removal the tumor grew back in the same place and she was subject to another operation in the same hospital. This time they also had to perfome a Bone-graft (bone transplant) to replace the original bone where they entered her brain for the surgery.

Since then she has been free from symthoms until a month ago when she contacted Doctor Jamal Nassar, suffering from a severe headache and with swollen periorbital and frontal region. He performed an X-ray examination that failed to determine the reason behind her symthoms and he appointed her to a CT-scan, a more reliable method of discovering tumors, in the end of this week.

Since she is now detained she will probably not get the opportunity to get her condition suffitiently examined. DR Nassar claims that he has prior experience of patients being detained in the process of
treatment/examintion. His feedback from these patients, when released, is that the Israelis has eiter neglected their condition or given improper and/or delayed treatment.

His oppinion on Esmas condition based on the incomplete examination he has done is that she etither has a serious infection in the area of the performed bone-graft or that the tumor has started to grow back. In any case it is of great importance that she recieves proper treatment, an infection in the brain area poses a great risk and if it is a tumor the risk of it tuning malignant increases with time. Even if it doesn't a Meningioma tumor is very serious and it can, if it is allowed to grow cause sudden death.
