Nov 30 , 2001 Settler outpost and two hilltops being linked

According to reports from LDC members and friends in the village of Sinjil, Ramallah Governorate, bulldozers began work in the last few days (notably on Wednesday 28th) clearing the way for a new road aimed at creating a link between two hills which have had caravans and water tanks placed upon the. Young settlers from the Amana affiliated (Gush Emunim) Ma'ale Levona settlement have, in addition to these activities, placed a shelter at the old junction of Sinjil (just off route 60). As is customary, the Israeli military have joined the settlers in order to ensure their 'wellbeing'. In 1999 the confiscation of some 4000 dunums of land in the area was successfully prevented by the LDC and other activists and lobbying committees. While no current confiscation orders hve yet been givenregarding the hiolltops and rioad way in question, the LDC will continue to monitor events and is in the process of developing a full report on the situation in conjunction with the residents of Sinjil.
