Since May 9th, 2001, after the killing of two Israeli youth from the Teqoa settlement, an Israeli colony built on land confiscated from the village by the Israeli Authorities, the Palestinian village of Teqoa has been under tight siege. When another settler was killed in a nearby area on September 20, the stranglehold was further tightened, with the main road linking Bethlehem to the Hebron areas that passes through the village being cut off and all the minor roads that connect the village to the main road being blocked. The killings have also been used erroneously to justify the further confiscation of thousands more dunams of land belonging to Teqoa on which yet another illegal Israeli settlement will be built. There is no link between the men, women and children of Teqoa village and these killings, yet the Israeli army is punishing thousands of innocent Palestinians mercilessly.
